What is BAOBAB?
Africa's legendary
"Tree of Life" grows fruit unlike anything else.
In 2018, travelling through Kenya, our founder Nathan heard the old story: thousands of years ago, the gods grew frustrated with the arrogant, towering baobab trees and so ripped them out of the ground and thrust them back upside down, roots to the sky. They are now known as the "Upside Down" trees. Myth or not, its fruit is remarkable. When the Hadza tribe of Tanzania were studied by the BBC in 2017, they revealed one of the healthiest gut micro-biomes ever recorded. A key part of their diet? Baobab fruit, rich in fibre and nutrients. For thousands of years, baobab has nourished people and ecosystems across Africa. UNROOTED exists to carry that legacy forward, championing wild-harvested baobab, supporting the communities behind it, and building a modern brand on ancient shoulders.
