The trees themselves can live for up to 2,000 years, and it can take up to 200 years before they start to bear fruit, meaning baobab trees cannot be farmed. All baobab trees are therefore wild, and their fruits are collected by hand by harvesters. The fruits naturally fall from the tree once they're ripe (and bone dry on the inside!), and are split open and sieved, turning their fried fruit pulp into powder.
